My version of the sequel is--
Rhett still loved Scalette, he left her becuase he was tired of trying to win her, and his pride.
Scallet finally found out she loved him and relied on him for long time.
She was thinking how to get him back by using some strategies.
These two are frankly on everything but love.
Scallet was sad and lonely, but she had belief in her, before it was Ashley, now it's Rhett.
She hired a person to look after her timber business.
Then she packed up and went to Rhett's hometown.
Scallet didn't tell Rhett that she was here.
Scallet stayed in the town as a businesswoman, she pretended to be nice to everyone, especially to Rhett's family, so everyone loved her and talked about her.
If Scallet wants something, she will get it. She won everyone by her charmingness.
Rhett was the last one of knowning these. He was impressed. He knew Scallet sacrificed her business and Tara only for him, but he didn't show his impressing. He talked to her coldly.
Scallet was so excited of seeing him, but she didn't show her excitment. She tried her best to make him angry.
They started fighting again.
The fighting was something different than they used to, there was love in between them.
She was happly that he still cares her, not ignores her.
Then they had a daughter, and a son, and another daughter.
LOL happy ending

That is a good story but I think Rhett can not be fool by Scalette if she is just pretending as a good person.
Rhett is clever. He can sense that if Scalette is pretending.
I think she has to be changed in someway to impress him.
In the sequel story she changed."
I think the only purely good person in GWTW is Melly. Rhett is not morally good.
He could be himself in front a Scarlett, but he had to pretend in front of Melly.
If Scarlett has changed but Rhett is still the same, I'm wondering how could they get along.
(I doubt whether personality could really be changed.)
Rhett loves Scarlett is because they are alike.
Rhett knew Scarlett only cared money and Ashley. If Scarlett could show that she only cares Rhett but nothing else, like she could sell her lumber business, she could move to Charleston, and she could put herself in the position of Rhett, think what he thinks, etc. I believe it would take long time, Rhett didn't believe Scarlett at all.
I agree Scarlett can't fool Rhett, he knows everything in her mind. My story should be--
Rhett knew Scarlett was pretending, but he didn't say anthing and do anthing.
He was bored of these and didn't care at all.
Then he found from people's talking, Scarlett intended to settle down in Charleston.
Then after a while he found Scarlett sold her business and gave money to the poor.
She took care her own children, and did what Melanie used to do (all the kind things).
She tried very hard, but she didn't get used to, alway been awkward.
(When she loved Ashley, there was only Ashley in her eyes. Now she loves Rhett, there is only Rhett.)
Rhett would be startled, he never imagined Scarlett could do what people expected her to do.
Scarlett had very bad reputation, she didn't care what people thinks, she used to do whatever could make herself happy.
Then Rhett was curious about Scarlett's behaviour, he started spying on her.
After long long time, he finally believed Scarlett's dedication. She was still the same, she did all these on purpose, the purpose was to impress him. he believed she had a determination. If he didn't give her feedback anyhow, she would stary in Charleston for the rest of her life. He was thinking perhaps he could give another try...
