Flash for Beginners -- frame animation tutorial

This is a very brief tutorial, in this tutorial we will create frame by frame animations and motion tween, just play the video below to see the final version.

P.S. you need some basic understanding of how Flash animation works

Final version

1. Put each object in different layers and give it a meaningful name

e.g. Arms in 'arms' layer, then name this layer 'arms' . (see picture below)

2. We are going to make robot's eyes and arm move, and make products move at the same time as the robot move. In order to make these animation happens, we need to create three symbols.

  • Select eyes, right click --> Convert to Symbol or hit F8
  • In the pop up, give the symbol a name and remember to choose Movie from the drop down list

3. After you convert eyes to a symbol, double click on the symbol, now we are inside this symbol. It means the eye symbol is ready for editing

3.1 Right click on Frame 6 (or hit F6 on keyboard) to insert a keyframe.

3.2 Select keyframe 6 to make it active, now move back to stage, drag eyeball a little down

3.3 Right click on Frame 20, choose insert Frame. When you test move(Control-->Test Move or Ctrl+Enter on keyboard) you can see eyeball look move and stop for a few seconds then move up.
3.4 this symbol is used to create a loop animation, when we test movie, the Play Head(the read square) will go from frame 1 to frame 20, then go back to frame 1.....

4. we use the same technique to make arms and products move

This tutorial is going to finish, try it by youself. Please feel free to ask questions.
Have a nice week end!

Flash Vector

This is the first time for me to draw this kind of character, Flash surprises me like it alway does.

MS Expression Blend is a good S/W, I'm afraid one day it will replace Flash or take over Flash?
Adobe GO!
