For the first time I read Gone With The Wind was about 10 years ago. The book was in Chinese, a cheap copy, I was cheated by the bloody vendor. At that time, the market had full of copies. Anyway, I bought it and read it, and then the story stucked in my head for more than 10 years.
Recently I am reading GWTW again, but this time is in English. When I opened the book I found I don't need to read it anymore, through all the words I can almost recall all the details from my memory back to 10 years ago. It still makes my cry, takes my breath away and squeezes my heart.
To be honest, the movie disappointed me. The movie was good enough to be a standalone, but compared with the book, the movie was pale. Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) was the only character matches my imagination. The public demanded Rhett Butler as a ''reckless rogue who shunned society's expectations and knew how to sweep any woman off her feet''.
Well, in my point of view, Rhett Butler is the best husband, the best father and the best adult to any children. He respects a woman he admired, he spoils a woman he loved and he is sympathetic with a woman who suffered. He was one of the very few adults appreciates children's genuine nature. Besides, he is handsome.
Rhett Butler is a completely NATURAL human being. The author figured a man who never existed in real life.
